1. Use your adrenaline

A small amount of anxiety can actually help you feel more excited and ready for a situation such as a big presentation or going sky diving. Some people actually thrive off of this intense feeling often referred to as “adrenaline junkies”. Try and find comfort in knowing that some people actually like to feel their nervous systems go all crazy and the feeling itself isn’t harmful.

2. Think about it differently

The fight or flight response is our bodies way of trying to protect us from danger. For example, if a huge. Tiger walked in your house, it’d be a good thing that your body reacts so quickly to the threat. Our bodies wants to help us, not hurt us. All anxiety really is, is simply our brains being too good at trying to protect us from danger and perhaps it gets a little confused at what is dangerous or not.

3. Accept the discomfort

Just like physical growing pains, our brains go through mental growing pains. Although uncomfortable, growth is beautiful. It makes life fun and exciting. Try and think of discomfort as the opposite of being bored. Try to turn “anxious” energy into motivation to get moving, start creating, or do something new. Obviously you don’t want to feel debilitated, wallowing for too long is only going to make you feel sooooo much worse. So even if you don’t feel like it, take baby steps and go for a walk or take a shower.

4. Set a goal

Set a timeline and stick to it. Write down exactly how you are going to conquer your goal. Choose 1 main goal to focus on so you don’t overwhelm yourself. Accomplishing goals feels so rewarding!
